MW & SW Verification Letters from 1948-1983 in Chronological Order

These images are also available in our QSL Gallery

These items are from Auckland DXer Mervyn (Merv) L Russell. Merv died in 2010 and most of his collection was donated elsewhere (possibly to the Auckland Branch of the NZRDXL or NZART) but these verification letters and other items came to light later. They were donated to the Radio Heritage Foundation by Merv’s daughter, Claire Bennett, in July 2020.

The originals of these verification letters, along with high resolution scans, are held in the Radio Heritage Foundation’s archives. The low resolution versions shown here are free to re-use for personal and non-commercial use provided acknowledgement is given as “Radio Heritage Foundation, Merv Russell Collection”. For commercial use, or access to the high resolution original scans, we ask for a small donation to cover the time of our volunteer staff. Please contact us for more details.

Log Books

Merv’s DX Log Book was included along with these verifications and we have also scanned it. It can be browsed here:

At the age of 12 Claire, Merv’s daughter, also had a brief interest in DXing. Here is her Log Book:
