Hazel Edwards (nee Nicholls) Collection

QSLs from the 1930s

A small but interesting collection of QSLs from the 1930s, including amateur and broadcast, both medium and shortwave.

Hazel was a listener who grew up in Whangarei, New Zealand, then lived the rest of her life in Auckland. She died in 1979 and these cards passed through the hands of family members before being donated to the Radio Heritage Foundation by Lesley Brennan in 2009.

This small collection gives a good indication of what the “average listener” was able to hear from New Zealand in the 1930s.
