Rare Photos from WXLN, Nome, Alaska, 1945
Valeria Edwards, from Los Angeles, wrote to us:
Hello
Attached please find photos of my father, Sherman Edwards (b 1919 New York – d 1981 New Jersey) while he was stationed at Marks Army Airfield in Nome, Alaska in 1945 with the US Air Force.
Dad was one of the radio announcers for WXLN. Some of the photos show other servicemen who were also stationed in Nome, including another announcer, Lowell Elliot, who may have been from Los Angeles CA.
I hope these will be of interest!
Thank you,
Valerie Edwards
