Base FM reaches Wanaka
Wanaka in beat
DJ R.I.A., aka Rire Norman, will be playing her eclectic funk-driven sound at Queenstown’s Tardis tonight and Wanaka’s Barluga tomorrow night for the BASE FM Wanaka broadcast launch.
With the help of community radio station Wanaka Beats FM, Auckland-based BASE FM will start broadcasting a mix of quality beats to Wanaka listeners on 107.3FM.
Wanaka-based musician, teacher and DJ, Daimon Schwalger aka The Nomad, said the BASE FM broadcast would have definite appeal to Wanaka’s younger generation and transient travellers, especially over the winter season when the resort’s population swelled.
“It’s a real treat to have BASE FM in Wanaka. There’s a lot of young people that travel here each year and we all need fresh sounds. It means that we can have an outlet for music, gigs and keep tabs on what’s fresh in New Zealand music.”
Catch DJ R.I.A. with Dylan C and DJ Alias tonight in Queenstown, and with Dylan C and DJ Damon in Wanaka tomorrow.
