4MK Mackay, Queensland “We Strive to Excel”

Mackay Broadcasting Service Pty. Ltd., is a 100 per cent. Mackay organisation established firmly in a very prosperous district which boasts seven sugar mills, a butter factory and two wharf sheds wherein 38,000 tons of sugar has been stacked at one time.
4MK is now in its seventeenth year of operation. It broadcasts from 6.30 a.m. continuously till 10.30 p.m. Its anouncers are J. H. WILLIAMS (General Manager), MAVIS WATSON, CATH. POTTS and JOAN HURLEY. Miss Watson contributes a useful poetry session – Miss Potts excels in the Cookery Section.
Programmes of 4MK compare with those of any metropolitan station. These include at the moment of writing, the Golden Boomerang serial for children, Danger Unlimited, Martin’s Corner, A Case for Cleveland, Dr. Mac., the Bob Dyer Show, the Australian Amateur Hour, Radio Theatre, Hit Tunes, Calling the Stars, Cavalcade, Big Sister, Aunt Jenny, the Harris Family and the 4MK Radio Sunday School. The Station has done fine work for various good causes notably the Red Cross and the Red Shield.
