Sumner’s own radio station

The Wave was an LPFM radio station broadcasting from the bell tower at All Saints Church in Sumner, Christchurch, New Zealand.  The transmitter had a power of 500mW, which was just sufficient to reach most of the houses in Sumner.  The station transmited on 88.5 and later on 88.3 FM.

The station played an automated program of popular and contemporary Christian music 24 hours per day.

The station was damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.

These audio clips come from an audio sampler CD donated to the Radio Heritage Foundation by the station several years ago.
